Rapper Eminem admitted in an interview this week to using the gay social networking app Grindr to seek out dates, though some suspect he may have been merely joking.
The virulently anti-Trump rapper, who as the Conservative Tribune has previously reported, obsesses over President Donald Trump and his family on a near-daily basis, had been speaking with Vulture magazine for a piece published Monday when the topic of his dating habits surfaced.
“When you were dating, how’d you meet people — Tinder?” the interviewer asked him, referencing a popular dating app for heterosexuals.
“Yeah, Tinder … and Grindr,” the rapper replied, referring to the gay hook-up app. “I also used to go to strip clubs.”
Those were his exact words, and as of Thursday he had yet to backtrack or request that Vulture issue a retraction.
The reaction on social media has been one of both frustration and astonishment.
Social media users were frustrated that Vulture’s interviewer never asked any follow-up questions about the admission:
There's been a lot of great journalism in 2017, but the reported who didn't ask Eminem any followup questions about using Grindr has let down their entire profession https://t.co/sVTD6qr1lw

So Eminem, the king of homophobic slurs, just casually (and, seemingly, seriously) drops that he’s used Grindr in this Vulture Q&A and the interviewer doesn’t ask him about it at all. In an interview that’s supposed to be about his growth, no less. https://t.co/ai6uWJBzuy

Because Vulture failed to ask for clarification, it remains unclear if Eminem had been serious or merely joking around.
Social media users — and Eminem’s fans, to boot — were also stunned:
EMINEM IS ON TINDER?!?
Not enough exclamation marks for this. https://t.co/nlY6ikvrHE

Eminem?! ON GRINDR?! DOES HE KNOW?! WHO IS TELLING HIM?!

Eminem is gay?

But not everyone bought into the hype.
am i missing something or is it not obvious the eminem grindr thing was a joke

Mr. Drake may have been correct.
Katie Baillie of the U.K. Metro claimed in a report published Thursday morning that Eminem’s “people” had confirmed to her that “he was joking about using both Tinder and Grindr.”
Plus, it kind of makes sense given Eminem’s disturbing sense of humor, as well as his habit of saying and doing outrageous things for attention.
Though to be clear, his constant attacks on the president and even his children aren’t just him being outrageous for attention and laughs.
They’re a part of a disturbing pattern of Trump Derangement Syndrome that showed up even in his interview with Vulture.
“He makes my blood boil,” Eminem told Vulture about the president. “I can’t even watch the news anymore because it makes me too stressed out.”
“All jokes aside, all punch lines aside, I’m trying to get a message out there about him,” he added. “I want our country to be great too, I want it to be the best it can be, but it’s not going to be that with him in charge.”
Let me tell you something, Eminem. While you’ve been busy manipulating your fans’ emotions for laughs, President Donald J. Trump has been defeating the Islamic State group, reducing the American people’s taxes and securing our border.
In other words, Trump has been “Making America Great Again,” while you’ve been busy being a 45-year-old man who acts like he’s 12.
